Hold The Light

This is a portrait of Sabita ,aged 33, beloved wife of Vidur and treasured mother of the artist Roshni .
It is part of a donation to St Georges Hospital Charity where she passed in 2019.
She was born in Guyana, South America and emigrated to England in 1962. The portrait depicts her in an occasionally worn, traditional Indian sari when she was on her way to a social gathering circa 1971.
She is shown surrounded by her favourite flower, lavender and other flowers and words associated with her, her daughter and her husband.

The White Oleander

The White Oleander

Moving from one person to another
One of them will know me
They’ll feel my music
They’ll see my pictures
They’ll read my words
They’ll hear my voice

I don’t know what the point is
I don’t know where this goes
The start of the beginning?
The start of the end?
Flowers that grow in my mind
I never have in my hand

When it’s cold and I can’t move
I only put words together
Like a frame around emptiness
Nothing inside, I can see through, then
you say something, that paints the space
I hope those fragments are real.
